Realdoll vs. Superbabe

A comparison between two of the most popular silicone dolls today.
By Jerry
One might think that because Mark gave me a $5,500.00 doll for free that I would just glow about the Superbabe and really tear the Realdoll apart. I am just not like that... I feel that I have a responsibility to people like you to be a "fair witness" and report on both dolls equally to the best of my ability

I like both dolls... they also each have some shortcomings that I would like to see changed. I think both are great products... and depending on what you want out of them... this should help you to make your choice wisely.

This is perhaps the first ever photograph of a Realdoll and a Superbabe side-by-side. As you can see, the superbabe towers above the Realdoll. I am using my Body-1 doll to make the comparisons with because she falls between the body-2 and body-3 in terms of overall size.

The breasts of the Superbabe compare very much with the breasts of the body-3 type doll... but the frame width and other proportions are closer to the body-1 Realdoll.

It was interesting to note that although she is taller, the Superbabe had less weight than the Realdoll. The newer production Superbabe dolls are about 8 to 10 pounds heavier because the skeleton was changed from aluminum in this prototype, to steel.

The skin of the Superbabe is smoother... more "doll-like" so you may notice that she is a bit lighter in color for some of the close-up photographs.

The Realdoll shown is a 1999 series doll made after the new silicone came out. Prior to her, there were problems with tears developing because the silicone was too soft. The Superbabe was an original prototype used to test joint failure. As a result she has a broken ankle, this may be evident in some of the images. This joint was changed from aluminum to stainless steel and no longer suffers this problem on production models.

Another note is that this Realdoll has no hard fingernails. She was a custom order, standard Realdolls have plastic fingernails glued to a wire extending from the finger. I have found that these fingernails can be problematic, so we ordered her without any. The Superbabe has standard fingernails, but if I were to order a new one, I would probably not order the fingernails.( My preference only. ) To date these fingernails have not come off, they are glued directly to the silicone... I will update this page if there are any problems.

Item Realdoll Superbabe
Silicone The silicone used in the Realdoll is now on it's third generation that I am aware of. The first version was very soft but also very prone to tears. While not quite as soft as the Realdoll's skin, this grade of silicone is still soft to the touch, and very tear resistant.
The current grade of silicone is softer than that used in the Superbabe which makes the Realdoll feel more realistic overall. Slightly less soft, but also less tacky to the touch. Clothing will slide over her with less binding.
If you place the doll on a solid color material for a few days you may notice that she leaves an outline when removed. The silicone contains a high oil content that makes her softer... it leaches out over time and can leave these marks.

The oil comes out in the laundry with no problems on most fabrics, or fades away with time as it evaporates.

Since the silicone contains less oil in the mixture, there is less to leach out. usually there are no stains unless she has been sitting for a long period of time.

Due to the lower oil content, her skin is not as soft. She still is soft enough to feel very nice, but when placed side-by-side you can feel the difference with ease.

Eyes
The eyes are made of a hard plastic with fine detail in them. They are available in many colors. If you remove the eyeball, you may find a seam around the edge halfway back.

At least one of my Realdolls has eyes which are only half of a sphere... then a piece of foam rubber.

The eyes are also made from a hard plastic with a very detailed look. They originally had a stem for mounting some kind of holder or electronics... but this has been milled off during the assembly process.
The eyes may be replaced later if desired. The eyes can be replaced later if desired.
Mouth
There are upper teeth only, made of soft silicone.  The mouth can be used for oral activity, but great care must be used because the silicone is thinnest here.
The silicone is thicker (slightly) in this area. The teeth are smaller and made from the same grade of silicone as the body. Care should still be taken as this is the thinnest part.
The tongue is removable for easy cleaning. It can also be repositioned for photography. My doll does not have a tongue, but I believe that production dolls have this feature.
Jaw The jaw is made of hard fiberglass and is hinged where it meets the skull.

Mouth movement is very realistic.

The jaw is actually a hardened foam injected during manufacture. The face will tend to distort slightly as the mouth is opened, but returns to normal when released.
Many dolls have a problem with the jaw becoming disconnected at the skull... I think this has been addressed in recent dolls. There are no jaw problems to report.

Less chance for damage here also.

Neck
The newer skeleton allows for positioning in the vertical about 30 degrees. (+15, -15) , and in the horizontal about 20 degrees. She will however tend to migrate to a neutral position when released.
Range of movement is very similar but she will not hold her head in a turned position as well as the Realdoll.
The head is attached to the body after it has been cast,  multiple styles are available at the time she is ordered.

Due to the way she is constructed, the neck seam is highly visible.

The head is attached separate from the body, but because only a single head is offered it aligns much better with a nearly invisible seam.

Several people have commented to me on this difference, visually superior.

Hands
Realdoll Superbabe
The hands are made from a life cast and contain details such as wrinkles, veins, and even fingerprints.
Realdoll Superbabe
The hands were sculpted and do not contain the small details. The hand is cupped more and has a groove in the palm that could be useful.
The hands are molded palm down and rest naturally on her lap when seated. The hands are molded palm up and will rest as if they were meant to hold something.
This doll has no wires so her fingers will tend to jiggle a bit. If the wires were in place, they would be much stiffer and able to hold some positions for photography. The Superbabe is made without wires, there is a center core of hard silicone that makes the fingers firm and not prone to jiggle. She is not able to hold a position when the fingers are bent however.
Wrists
Realdoll Superbabe

The wrists will flex somewhat but won't hold position too well. Care must be taken not to place great pressure on them or damage can result. They are not meant to support her weight.

Realdoll Superbabe

The wrist is made from steel cable and can freely flex. They are more durable in construction, but still not designed to support her weight under use.

Rotational movement of about 5 degrees on this doll, perhaps 15 degrees on another.

Will not hold the rotational position.

Rotational movement of about 180 degrees, but she won't hold that position, and I don't think it would be good for the silicone in the long run.
No side to side movement. Side to side movement about 110 degrees, will not hold that position.
Vertical movement about 80 degrees, will hold position in the 40 degree range. Vertical movement about 110 degrees, will not hold that position.
Hands are attached after casting, there is a very visible seam. The hands are molded in place so there is no attachment seam.
Elbow and Knee Joints Very closely resembles an actual human joint in movement. Better visual design, more lifelike. Very closely resembles an actual human joint in movement. Too skinny, unrealistic.
Somewhat more noisy than the Superbabe... creaks a tiny bit.  Nearly noiseless... very smooth action.
Older models had a problem with the knee joint dislocating when the screw rotated free. The only solution was to cut open the joint and repair it.

This has been greatly reduced in newer models... the joint was redesigned, and people were replaced when it was discovered that they were not following instructions properly during manufacture.

Original prototype had a dislocated joint because the internal skeleton was aluminum and it pulled loose. Actually pulled the rivets through the aluminum tubing.

This has now been replaced by wielded steel and has not failed that I am aware of.

Skeleton Made of PVC tubing with steel joints.

Internal foam sections molded in place to make the doll lighter.

Wielded Steel with stainless steel joints.

Internal foam sections molded in place to make the doll lighter.

Weight Body-1 about 110 pounds.
Body-2 about 105 pounds.
Body-3 about 125 pounds.
Body-4 about 90 pounds.
Body-5 about 110 to 115 pounds.
Only one combination available.

Prototype is about 70 pounds, the production models are about 75 to 80 pounds. The newer steel skeleton added between 8 to 10 pounds.

Breasts

Very realistic, quite soft. Superior feeling.
Nipples - Soft

Nicely shaped, not as realistic.
Nipples - Firm
Filled with a jelly like substance... incredible to touch. They also bounce like real breasts.

Superior feeling and motion overall.

Filled with a softer version of the same silicone. The outer layer of silicone is about 1/4 inch thick. You can feel the two layers which is slightly artificial. When she presses against you they are quite nice however.
Offered in many sizes... larger Body-5 has been known to develop tears due to weakening silicone after about a year.

I have one body-2 doll that suffered a major breast tear after sliding off a bed.

Only one size is available, no known problems with breast tears. This prototype was actually suspended by her breasts to test durability.

Don't try this at home!

Because of molding process there is a seam around the breast area, it is minor but noticeable. The breast area is totally seamless and smooth.
Buttocks Proportionate in size with the rest of her body, soft construction. Very spankable... but gently.  Bubble Butt. Her legs will actually lift off the bed because of her buttocks. If you want an oversized butt... here you go.
Realdoll Superbabe
Superbabe ( Farthest ) Realdoll Body-1 ( Nearest )
Vagina

Anatomic placement directly
between the legs

Exterior very detailed, looks VERY real. I think it was sculpted... if so... Matt REALLY studied his work.

Moved forward about 2 inches
for easy penetration.

Simple approximation of shape and style, however it is less likely to tear under heavy use.

Inside smooth, molded with a nylon mesh... like a stocking. Many users report removing this for a better feeling. Use personal judgment "Ridged for HIS Pleasure" as Mark would say. The inside has a series of "speed bumps" that REALLY give you an intense feeling.
Visual - Superior.
Feeling - Good.
Visual - Fair.
Feeling - Superior.
Anus Placed in the correct anatomic location. Easy access when in the prone position, also in the seated position. Small diameter, 1/2 inch. Production dolls are made with the anus higher than what is shown here, now more closely resembles anatomic position. 3/4 inch diameter.
Realdoll Superbabe
Inside is smooth silicone. Inside has more "speed bumps".
Hair High Quality Wig - many to choose from. High Quality Wig - many to choose from.
Feet Life cast - very realistic like the hands.

Added to the body after casting, quite visible seam.

Not as detailed as the realdoll, however they do have a nice overall shape that looks and feels nice in stockings.

Single mold, no attachment seams at all.

Body Multiple types to choose from.

Range from petite to "normal" sized.

Only one type available at this time.

She is a big girl... comparable to Body-3.
